Roller Newman Frames
Some of the Benefits of Newman Roller Frames
Low tensions screens create a large amount of printing distortion. This
distortion will exist for each color of a multi-color print. The
distortion is so large that it is difficult and if not impossible to
print in register using non-trapped ( butt registration ) art work; or
layered ink on top of itself for brighter colors, or for high quality
high density specialty printing. The high tension of the Newman Roller
Frames will allow a printer to print distortion free, exactly the same
size of the stencil's image of the original art work. The higher the
screen tension the lower the off-contact distance of the screen is above
the shirt or paper during printing. The lower the off-contact distance
during printing the more accurate the printed image will be by a factor
of 4. Conversely the lower the screen tension and the higher the
off-contact distance during printing, the more distorted the image will
be during printing. This distortion will increase the longer the print
run is.
It is important the the screen tension be high - 45 to 65 Newtons/cm or
higher. It is also important that the tension be uniform in the print
area preferably between + or - 1 Newton/cm, or within no more than 2
Newtons/cm. The NRFrames easily do that with proper training and a small
amount of practice. After printing all screens loose tension from the
heavy squeegee pressure. With the NRFrame you just put the frame back on
the Newman Roller Master, and in 3 to 6 seconds the screen is
re-tensioned back up to its original tension. The more that a screen is
used and the more that it is re-tensioned the stronger that high quality
polyester becomes. The most accurate high quality printing should be
done on previously print, reclaimed, and re-tensioned mesh- not virgin
mesh.
The higher and more consistent that the screen tension is, the thinner
and brighter the ink deposit will be. The higher tension will also
control the thickness of ink deposits in general, and hence, will give
the printer much more control and accuracy on all of their color
balances. This will be true for transparent, semi-transparent, and
opaque inks.
The higher screen tension will also allow a printer to print faster for
both manual and automatic printing. The ink will flow about 30% faster
and better into the mesh opening during the flood stroke because of the
increased screen pressure on the ink. The squeegee can also be allowed
to go approximately 30% faster, because of the screen tension's very
powerful screen snap force, as the squeegee moves across the image. The
additional screen tension force will also force the ink to flow faster
through the mesh openings and onto the waiting fabric, paper, or plastic
substrate below.
